How K1 handles information.
In one paragraph.K1 is a field-evidence platform for construction. The information on it is your project’s evidence — photos, observations, deliveries, approvals — and the identities of the named people who created and validated it. We store that information to make it verifiable, we keep it for you and your project partners, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models. Questions: info@k1.construction.
1. Who we are
K1 (“K1”, “we”) is operated by Kunstruction1 K1 LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company based in Cranford, New Jersey. This policy covers the K1 platform at k1.construction and its subdomains, the K1 mobile and web applications, the WhatsApp capture channel, the investor data room, and email we send in connection with them.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. Name, email address, organization, role, and a password hash. Accounts are created by invitation; K1 never stores a password in readable form.
- Field evidence. Photos, voice notes, documents, observations, quantities, and approvals that project members capture or upload, together with the time, the device, and — when permitted — the GPS location of the capture. A cryptographic hash of each record is computed at capture and sealed into a per-project chain; this is the service.
- WhatsApp messages. When a project enables the WhatsApp channel, messages and media sent to the project’s number are received through our messaging providers (Meta Platforms and/or Twilio), hashed on receipt, and stored as project evidence. The sender’s phone number is matched against the project roster.
- Investor data room. For invited investors: name, email, firm, the confidentiality acknowledgment (with the name typed, the time, and the network address), and an access log of documents viewed.
- Technical data. IP address, browser and device information, and server logs, used for security, rate limiting, and diagnosing problems.
- Cookies. Session cookies only, to keep you signed in. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. How we use it
- To operate the platform: capture, validate, seal, store, export and display evidence to the people entitled to see it.
- To attribute every record to a named person and to detect any later alteration.
- To send transactional email — invitations, access links, approval requests, reports. We do not send marketing email to platform users.
- To assist with document reading and summaries using AI services (see section 5). AI output is always marked as a suggestion until a named person confirms it; AI never validates or seals anything.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
4. Who can see it
Evidence belongs to the project. It is visible to the members of that project according to their role, and to the project’s owner and design professionals where the project includes them. Every read and write is scoped to the project; one customer cannot see another’s data. K1 staff access customer data only to operate and support the service. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the platform. Each receives only what its function requires:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting and encrypted storage of evidence media (United States).
- Neon — the platform database (United States).
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- OpenAI — document and photo reading for suggestions. Content is sent for processing only; it is not used to train models.
- Meta Platforms and Twilio — the WhatsApp capture channel, where a project enables it.
- Google — the investor data room stores its documents in a K1-controlled Google Drive account, reached through Google’s API. K1’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Investors never access Google directly.
6. Security
Evidence is hashed at capture and chain-linked so that alteration is detectable. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by our storage providers. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Sessions are short-lived, single-use invitation links expire, and failed sign-ins are rate-limited. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will tell you without undue delay.
7. Retention
Because evidence exists to be relied on later, sealed records are retained for the life of the project and thereafter as required by the customer’s contract or by law. Corrections are made by appending new records, never by editing sealed ones. Account information is kept while the account exists and for a reasonable period after. Data-room access logs are kept as long as the data room exists. Customers may request export of their project data at any time.
8. Your rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your account to be closed, by emailing info@k1.construction. Some information cannot be deleted while it forms part of a sealed evidence record that a project relies on; we will explain what applies in each case. Residents of jurisdictions with specific privacy laws have the rights those laws provide.
9. Children
The platform is for professional use and is not directed to anyone under 18.
10. Changes
We will post any change to this policy here with a new effective date, and notify account holders of material changes by email.
